India is a magnificent country abound in various kinds of plants, one of the richest in the world. But unfortunately culture of Palms as ornamental trees is almost non-existent. Main reason for this could be non-affordability of exotic variety of Palms of high prices and lack of orientation towards Palms.

 

 

Once planted Palms grow symmetrical. They do not have branches like other plants. Their growth is uniform. Unlike other trees, Palms do not shed their leaves and are evergreen. They are tall, semi-tall, semi-dwarf, dwarf, full sun lover, partial sun lover, shelter lover, under story lover and aquatic too. So whatever be the requirement multiple choices are available. Although Palms are tropical, most of them can tolerate extreme climate. There are several Palms, which are cold hardy. There are several Palms which can stay indoor happily and create a wonderful grace.

Most of the Palm growers are to be found in Australia, southern USA and Southeast Asia where the climate, normally hot and humid, is ideal for growing so many of the palm species that are indigenous to tropical and subtropical parts of the world.
